Hori Akira

was born in 1944, in Tatsuno city, Hyogo pref. Joined fanzines "Uchujin" and "Null" when he was a high school student to begin writing science fictions. Graduated basic engineering from Osaka University. Working in a textile manufacturer in Osaka, he sold "Icarusu no Tsubasa"(Wing of Icarus) to SF Magazine. Mainly writes so-called 'hard science fictions'. In 1980, won the 1st Nihon SF Taisho Award by "Taiyo-fu Koten"(Solar Wind Node). In 1988, won Seiun Award by "Babylonian Wave". Organizer of the computer network media-cross SF fanzine 'SOLITON'.
